The Hidden Elegance of Trees

As Autumn gives way to Winter, and the trees give up their leaves to the ground below, a hidden elegance is revealed to our eyes. For months we enjoyed the shade provided by these trees. Then we marveled at the colors of the season’s change. But once barren, we look elsewhere. We shelter from the briskness of the air and wind, and we curse the rain while longing for the sunshine and warmth of the days gone by.

Finding beauty in this world is important. Our days are busy, stressful, and exhausting. Mine are no different. And when the stress and anxiety levels elevate, I reach for my camera. I seek to reconnect with the natural elements of this world. There is art there. There is beauty there.

In recent weeks, the skies have gone overcast. Fog has blanketed the city. But what stood out in the midst of the mist, were the trees, steadfast and strong. And especially those leafless branches, silhouetted against the monochrome sky. The simple elegance of branch after branch, spreading and getting smaller and smaller. Patterns repeating. Lines intersecting. Like something out of a dream. It is at the same time simple and complex. And it is beautiful.
